The NBN roll-out is past the halfway point, with over 3 million properties now connected and millions more all ready to make the switch. With new improvements to internet speed and reliability, the change to NBN provides the perfect opportunity to advance your business phone systems.
You can now go to the NBN website and get a Business Readiness Checklist which allows you to enter your business requirements for your internet, phone systems, alarm system, ATM services and other cloud-based areas of your business. It’s a downloadable Business Readiness Checklist list for important business services that you will need to follow up after your NBN is connected.
What services are affected?
With NBN the old copper phone lines being disconnected within 18 months of your NBN connection, this will allow your business the opportunity to implement new cloud-based phone options. We can offer guidance on your journey as you look to digitise your business telephone services.
As most existing landline phone and internet services will be disconnected, it’s important you switch affected services before your disconnection date, even if you only use a landline phone, which will operate as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) over the nbn™ access network.
IP telephony e.g. VoIP
The NBN website suggests to help reduce disruption throughout your switch you should contact the provider of your equipment and/or internet service for advice on compatibility with services provided over the nbn™ broadband access network.
The NBN website also suggests that you should speak to your preferred provider about your data requirements for these services.
